About Me
My name is Robert Bende.
Hello
Let me introduce myself! My name is Robert Bende, and I am thrilled to share a bit about my world with you. My life revolves around two passionate vocations: I am an art teacher, shaping young minds, and I am deeply immersed in the enchanting realm of ceramic creation. Crafting unique functional and decorative ceramics is where I find solace and joy. Additionally, I actively participate in both local and international exhibitions.
As I mentioned, I am an art teacher, and my connection with young students and the world of art brings me immense happiness. Over the years, I have gained valuable experiences and shared delightful moments with my students, establishing close bonds with them. Teaching with passion and dedication, I encourage them to explore the boundless possibilities of art and creativity. Witnessing their inspiration and growth is the most rewarding aspect of my life, and I take pride in being part of their journey and development.
Simultaneously, not only does teaching bring joy to my life, but my own artistic path centered around ceramics as well. For me, working with clay is a soul-stirring experience, where raw clay transforms into something beautiful and unique in my hands. In my artisan workshop, I let my imagination and inspiration flow freely, creating distinctive functional and decorative ceramics.
Uniqueness holds paramount importance for me, and each of my creations is meticulously planned and crafted. I love employing special techniques and experimenting with new forms and colors to ensure that every piece embodies its own character and personality. My ceramics draw inspiration from nature, human emotions, and experiences in my life.
The recognition of my work is affirmed through my participation in both domestic and international exhibitions. I eagerly await each exhibition, as it provides an opportunity to showcase my creations to the audience. Feedback and interaction with the artistic community are precious to me, constantly inspiring me for further creations.
Overall, my role as an art teacher and my passion for ceramics are two interconnected paths that I happily tread in my life. The act of creating, teaching, and engaging with the artistic community are my personal treasures, enriching and fulfilling my life. I hope that my work and endeavors also bring joy and inspiration to others.
Thank you for getting to know me, and I look forward to crossing paths with you on our artistic journey!
I am painter and ceramic artist. My creative process is a plastic investigation. It involves thinking, observation, writing, sketching, material and composition election, physical intervention, photo taking, observation, and finishing. Some times I just destroy invalid pieces and start over again using the same surface with the rests of the previous intervention.

The creative work has been the part of my life since my childhood. When I was a child, I often dug soft clay around the house from which I made simple figures, objects or modelled pots and animals. During my studies I tried to mix my inherited curiosity with knowledge so I used every means to hurl myself deeper and deeper into the mystery of the pottery art. My life is determined by the formation of plastic clay and its colouring on the magic of fire and I hope it will influence my future, as well.
Every phase of pottery making is mysterious and exciting- it is a way to a perfect final result. My works are influenced by Hellenic, Hittite, Minoin and early Indian works of art. The basis of my works is mainly made by my potter's wheel, sometimes I model them further by the laying on technique.. The endless variations of a product can be resulted from the variation of forms, methods of decoration and ceramic techniques. The burning of ceramics is a lifelong experiment and play.
I always searched new ways and so far I have learnt a lot. In the last 15 years I tried every burning technique from traditional to alternative ones. In this way I also met raku technique, which has charmed me with the wonderful colours since then. During the wood burning the natural earth colours surrounding polished surface of ceramics can revive with the help of fire and originate the random patterns from which every piece becomes special and we cannot repeat it again.
Seeing the made products I understand that the urn made by this raku technique is worthy of the finishing of life on the Earth and the placing of somebody's ashes. Besides, unfortunately, my father died suddenly because of heart disease and I found this technique was the most worthy of his life. Because of these reasons I have also made individual urns for years. More and more families are interested in my works and ask me to prepare an individual urn which can symbolize their dead relatives.
